The Rad Dynasty: 2024 Season: Week Eight Recap

Can you believe we're already more than halfway through the regular season? I can, because we are. Before we begin our recap of the week's action, let's give Jalen Hurts from ned's rollers his honors for player of the week. His four total touchdowns led to 37.14 fantasy points for ned's team. Good job, Mr Hurts. And good job ned.

Dynastic Dan  (7-1) 198.42 vs Teflon Don (3-5) 137.85

This was easily my best ever performance in the Rad Dynasty, as I fell just three shy of the record for most points scored in a single game. Unfortunately it came at the expense of my brother Chris, who drops to 3-5 in the league. Going back to last season, Chris is now 0-7 combined against me and my uncle Peter.

Dynastic Dan, who only won 6 games last year, wins his 7th game of the season and moves back into first place with this scoring outburst. That matchup with Fergalicious in week 10 is looming on the horizon. It is possible both teams come into the game with 8-1 records. That'll be quite the showdown. On the flip side of things, Chris is down but not out. It's not quite to the point where he needs to win out to make the playoffs, but it could be getting there soon. Luckily he plays TBone next week. If he is going to turn things around, this is a great place to start.

My Team (3-5) 157.15 vs BDBs Jet Setters (1-7) 121.43

Don't look now, but My Team is perhaps the hottest team in the league at the moment. They've now won their 3rd straight game, and they've been absolutely steamrolling people in the process. Who would have thought this would happen after the 0-5 start? It's still a large uphill battle to get into contention, but I am super proud of this team and how they've turned around what looked like was going to be a lost season. You go, uncle Peter. Week 9 against Fergalicious (7-1) should be a true litmus test as to where this team is right now.

On the other side of things, BDB's Team is looking awfully grim. It's hard to believe this team made the postseason last year, because they've been horrendous this year. I get the impression BDB is a bit stretched thin with fantasy teams this year. He's normally very good, but all across the board his teams have been terrible this year. If anything, at least he is going to get a very high draft pick next season.

Show me the TDs (4-4) 167.51 vs Alice in Horns (5-3) 141.26

Most of the matchups this week were between bad teams and good teams, but this was the one matchup between two contenders. It was Show me the TDs who walked away with the win, after a very good showing by their team. Sean is now 4-4 after a slow start. It hasn't been his fault, though, as he is giving up the most points in the league right now. This team is much better than its record indicates. They have a chance to move above .500 for the first time next week when they play hapless The Killing Fields.

Alice falls to 5-3 and if the playoffs started today, she'd be out. The good news for her is that she's only one game out of things, and has a one game lead over the teams below her. So she's still right in the thick of things. She has a chance to rebound in week 9 against winless and last place Bluth Company.

TDs or Bust (6-2) 168.86 vs Bluth Company (0-8) 134.55

Speaking of Bluth Company, they now own the dubious record of worst start in the history of The Rad Dynasty. 0-8. Even if they won out for the rest of the season, the best they could do is 7-8. That stinks, especially for a team that even I thought would be a contender this year. Just a lot of bad luck and poor play. Bluth has probably already turned his attention to 2025 and the strong rookie class. With a few key moves and with some better luck/injury situations, this team could easily be in the running next year. I think they compare favorably to Fergalicious, who had a poor 2023 but is now 7-1 in year two of the league. 2025 could be Bluth's year!

TDs or Bust has to be feeling good about their chances. This win moves them to 6-2, just mere points behind ned for 3rd in the league. These two teams play next week. It'll be interesting to see who prevails. It's almost like an early playoff game.

ned's rollers (6-2) 162.84 vs TBone's Terrific Team (4-4) 118.29

That 4-1 start by TBone is now a distant thing of the past. This was a matchup that was never much in doubt. Ned has the stronger team on paper, and also was projected to win by a lot. It didn't hurt to have Jalen Hurts, the player of the week. These are two teams going in opposite trajectories.

Fergalicious (7-1) 127.01 vs The Killing Fields (2-6) 122.63

Last matchup was one that seemed like it would be an easy win for Fergalicious on paper. But it was actually a very close game, coming down to fewer than five points. An upset would have really shook up the top of the standings, but alas - it was not meant to be.

---

Let's close up with a look at the standings. As you can see, I am back in 1st due to my big scoring week. The only other thing to note is that because of my tiebreaker being head to head matchups - Teflon Don is actually below My Team in the standings. Yahoo has it wrong, and honestly it doesn't really matter. But that is something to remember when it comes to draft positioning at the end of the year. If the season ended now, Teflon Don would have the better pick of the two.

The Rad Dynasty: 2024 Season: Week Seven Recap

Hi everyone. Week 7 has wrapped up, and it is time for my weekly recap. This one is going to be even shorter than normal, as I really don't have the time or energy to put much together. I will start by giving props to the player of the week: Lamar Jackson for team Fergalicious. Fergalicious moves to 6-1 on the season, in big part due to Jackson's performance. His five passing touchdowns contributed to a 44.44 point fantasy performance. Good job, team Fergie. You are 6-1 and remain in first place.

Here is where I get lazy. I am just going to post a photo of this week's scores, with a few thoughts at the end.

Thoughts:
It's good to be 6-1.
TBone's team is who we thought they were.
Fergalicious is the real deal.
Alice had a down week but is still a strong contender.
What's going on with BDB this year?
What's going on with TKF this year?
Bluth has to be the unluckiest team ever. 0-7.
Ned does nothing but win.
My Team is heating up, and could be a team to watch in the second half of the year.
Teflon Don just had a really bad week. Excellent team on paper, but has been ravaged by injuries.
Show me the TDs has had bad luck. One of the top scoring teams, but has given up the most points by far.
TDs or Bust better hope those running backs stay healthy, because that is a great trio that is deadly when they're on.

Trivia: My brother Chris (Teflon Don) is now 0-3 all time against My Team, who is our Uncle Peter. He is also 0-3 all time against me. So he is not doing good against family. He plays me this upcoming week.

Also: Alice vs Show me the TDs is low-key a super important game for both teams. Neither team can really afford to take a loss right now.

After an 0-5 start, My Team can win their third in a row if they beat BDB this week.

Bluth Company needs to beat TDs or Bust to avoid the first 0-8 start in Rad Dynasty history. Fergalicious started 0-7 last year, but won their eighth game.

I'll be shocked if TBone knocks off ned this week. Ditto for Killing Fields against Fergalicious.

And now, the standings. A real logjam at the top. Every single game is going to be crucial for these teams. The margin for error when only four teams make the playoffs is razor thin.

The Rad Dynasty: 2024 Season: Week Six Recap

It's week six and things have been shaken up in the Rad Dynasty! There are no longer any undefeated teams, and there is now a three way tie for first in the league. A bunch of other teams are right behind, vying for one of only four playoff spots in the league. It's only week six and it is already shaping up to be a season long battle for those elusive spots.

Before we break down the action, special shout out to player of the week Baker Mayfield, whose 33.9 fantasy points helped lift My Team to their first win of the season. Baker threw for 325 yards and 4 touchdowns in the Bucs win over the Saints. Great job, Baker. My Team holds you in their gratitude forever.

ned's rollers (4-2) 160.76 vs Dynastic Dan (5-1) 137.55

I am undefeated no more. Not gonna lie, even though I knew it would never happen, I was seriously hoping for an undefeated season this year. I've never seen a fantasy team go undefeated before, and it would have been awesome if it was my team that pulled it off. Oh well. I didn't deserve this one anyway. Even though I technically overperformed, it was only by one point. Ned, on the other hand, had a big game week with lots of players having mammoth games.

Ned moves back into the playoff picture at 4-2, and looks to improve upon that win total next week as they take on last place and winless Bluth Company. Dynastic Dan looks to rebound against TBone, whose team is starting to come back to earth a little.

TDs or Bust (4-2) 189.86 vs Fergalicious (5-1) 142.02

Another undefeated team goes down as TDs or Bust hands Fergalicious their first loss. Fergalicious had a decent game, scoring 142 points, but it is tough to win when your opponent goes off for nearly 190 like this. Only 3 of Perry's 13 players scored in single figures. Everyone else had themselves a big game.

Despite the mammoth win, TDs or Bust still sits outside the playoff picture in 5th place. A lot of season left to go, though! I am going to use this time to remind everyone that tiebreakers at the end of the season are determined by head to head matchups when two teams are tied in the rankings. If three or more are tied, it comes down to points. As this is Perry's only matchup with Fergalicious, this game could be big at the end of the year.

Next week, Fergalicious looks to rebound against red-hot Alice, who is also 5-1 now. TDs or Bust looks to keep the good vibes rolling in a week one rematch against Show me the TDs. Another game that will have massive implications between two high scoring teams with a few losses looking for a playoff bid.

My Team (1-5) 168.55 vs TBone's Terrific Team (4-2) 92.05

Hats off to My Team, as this team has really put together some strong performances in a row, here. This was the first time it has translated into a win, but you just knew it was coming sooner or later. They completely eviscerated TBone, who came into this matchup at 4-1.

Looks like TBone kind of fell asleep at the wheel here, as they started a few injured/bye week players. Hopefully TBone can turn it around and get back to his winning ways, but hopefully not next week when he plays me. My Team looks to build on this momentum in week 7 - in a family member matchup. Dan's uncle vs Dan's brother. Always a good one for bragging rights.

Alice in Horns (5-1) 140.97 vs BDBs Jet Setters (1-5) 119.97

Alice ran away with this one, in a battle between two teams going opposite directions. Alice pulls into a three way tie for first with Dynastic Dan and Fergalicious. BDB, who was a strong playoff team last year, is really struggling this season. He is 1-5 and is fielding the third lowest scoring team in the league.

BDB has a great chance to rebound next week against the suddenly god awful Killing Fields. Alice faces off against fellow 5-1 team Fergalicious in what looks to be the biggest game of week 7. One will be 6-1 and other will find themselves out of first place at 5-2.

Show me the TDs (3-3) 156.85 vs Bluth Company (0-6) 127.58

The nightmare continues for Bluth Company. No matter what they do, this team just cannot catch a break. They are now 0-6 and going nowhere fast. This team essentially needs to win out or only lose one more game to keep their playoff hopes alive. Otherwise it is looking like a high draft pick for this team next season.

Show me the TDs continues to impress. Despite the 3-3 record, the are the third highest scoring team in the league. They are certainly still in the running. As I mentioned earlier, next week's matchup against the other TDs team is going to be crucial. Bluth is looking to simply get a win next week against reigning champ ned.

Teflon Don (3-3) 141.91 vs The Killing Fields (1-5) 65.95

This was an ugly game, as The Killing Fields shattered the record for fewest points scored in a contest. Injured and bye week players filled the lineup, as seemingly no adjustments have been made on this team for several weeks now. I don't like to step in as a commish, but this performance was definitely worth me sending TKF a message outside the game. You gotta get your head back into things, or you risk getting replaced next season.

Teflon Don has weathered the injury storm, and sits at 3-3 despite all the bad luck his team has been suffering. Chris will look to move to 4-3 next week as he has a favorable matchup against Uncle Pete's My Team. But this matchup is no longer a gimme, as My Team has been looking great the last few weeks. My Team also won last year's season series 2-0. Maybe this will be the time Chris finally breaks through?

On the flip side of things, The Killing Fields has a winnable matchup against BDB, another team that is 1-5 and hasn't done much this year. If either of these teams want to turn around their season, it HAS to start in week seven.

---

All right, we're done. I hope you don't mind that I stopped putting all the players' point totals in these recaps, as it takes a lot of looking back and forth and clicking on things to add them here. It saves me a lot of time leaving those out. I think I'll keep it this way for a while, unless I find myself with extra time to recap later on in the year.

Until then, let's have a look at the standings. The thing that jumps out is the three way tie at the top between Alice, Dan, and Mike. Ned, the two TDs teams, and Teflon Don are also right there, challenging for a top spot in the standings. I hate to say this, but I do not have much faith in TBone to keep up his winning ways. I think he'll be out of the running pretty quick (now watch he beats me next week!). So really, you've got seven contenders vying for four playoff spots. That's awesome. That's exactly what I wanted when I started this league. A competitive league where each and every game is like a playoff game because they matter so much.

I hope this continues all year long.

The Rad Dynasty: 2024 Season: Week Five Recap

Week five is a wrap, and boy do I have to tell you I really don't feel like devoting much time to this week's recap. I'll apologize now for the abridged version of things. But first, let's name the player of the week. It is Kirk Cousins for TBone's team. His 509 yards and 4 touchdowns translated to 42.36 fantasy points. This helped big time to push TBone to a surprising 4-1 start to the season.

TBone (4-1) 148.96 vs The Killing Fields (1-4) 140.34

This is a tale of two teams heading opposite directions. TBone has proven to be a strong contender, and has already matched their win total for the entire 2023 season, with ten games still left to play on the schedule. Next week, TBone looks to add another game to the win column as they match up for the second time this year against winless My Team. The Killing Fields narrowly missed the playoffs last year when they went 8-7, but have struggled a bit this year with depth issues and not putting players in when there is an injury. It is beginning to look like a lost season, which is a surprise considering how good they were last year.

Dynastic Dan (5-0) 175.19 vs My Team (0-5) 145.8

This was a shockingly close game, as My Team resurrected themselves from the dead with this performance. They had been one of the lowest scoring teams in the league, but came to life in this one, drastically outscoring their projected performance. They would have beaten six other teams this week, but unfortunately happened to go up against the week's highest scoring team. I am now 5-0 (yay!) but still sit in second place behind Fergalicious, who is also 5-0. Next week will be a great matchup for Dynastic Dan against reigning champ ned.

Alice in Horns (4-1) 137.86 vs Teflon Don (2-3) 115.37

This was a game with big implications, and Alice came away with the win. This moves Alice to 4-1, where she has cemented herself as a serious contender this season. Teflon Don has to be disappointed with this performance, as Alice was beatable this week. Unfortunately, the team massively underperformed - and now seems to have suffered more bad luck with injuries, as Rachaad White and Zach Moss are now banged up. Luckily they play The Killing Fields next week, and they have been pretty bad. It's a good place for a bounce back game.

TDs or Bust (3-2) 100.99 vs BDB (1-4) 81.6

This was a supremely ugly game. I will have to check the record book, but this may be the lowest scoring game in the Rad Dynasty of all time? TDs or Bust was lucky to walk away with a win here, as they would have lost to literally every other team this week. Funny, that happened to me last week against the Killing Fields! TDs or Bust stays above .500 with the win, despite being in the bottom half of total points scored so far this year. Next week is going to be the ultimate challenge against first place, and highest scoring team in the league Fergalicious. A battle of former coworkers. BDB's team was very bad in this game. It seems like every week, a new team wants to grab the league record for fewest points scored in a game. For both teams, it was not even a matter of leaving spaces blank, or injured people in the lineup. They were just really that bad.

Fergalicious (5-0) 167.07 vs Bluth Company (0-5) 159.99

The nightmare season continues for Bluth Company, as they drop to 0-5 on the season. They broke out and overperformed for the second straight week with a top-notch scoring performance.... but then lost because the other team also broke out. Ouch. The fantasy gods can be cruel sometimes. Week 6 will be a challenge for Bluth, as they match up against Show me the TDs - one of the highest scoring teams in the league this year. On the flip side, Fergalicious moves to 5-0 on the year and maintains their hold on first place. What a great season it has been for this team. I mentioned it last week and I will mention it again: last year, Fergalicious, TBone, and Dynastic Dan won a combined 14 games over the course of the entire 15-game season. In 5 games this year, they are a combined 14-1. That is just crazy to me.

Show me the TDs (2-3) 146.94 vs ned's rollers (3-2) 140.65

What a matchup this one was. It came down to the wire. Defending champ ned drops to 3-2. Show me the TDs improves to 2-3 and looks to be gaining momentum after a rough start to the season. Both teams are looking strong, though, and I would not be surprised to see them in the mix of things at the end of the year.

****

Updated standings will be posted below. Next week should be a good one! It is starting to feel like we can really see who is going to be a contender this year and who is not. I could see any one the entire top eight in the standings with a legitimate chance to win. Well, except maybe one team. I won't say who it is just yet.

The bottom four look to be pretty well dead and buried - but hey. It is early. The team I am most interested in is Bluth, because I know it is killing him how his team has sucked and he has not won any games. I think this could be a team to watch out for in the second half of the year. If they are not contenders, they will definitely be out there looking to play spoiler. I also know that he is one of the people here who really seems to know about dynasty and young players and building a team - so I am very interested to see what his approach will be.

BDB also has some good talent on his team. I think he may be the team that is the most likely to turn it around. The Killing Fields and My Team are the ones I am most worried about. I'm not a betting man, but I could see the highly coveted #1 pick next year going to one of these teams.

Ashton Jeanty? Luther Burden? Tet McMillian? Quinson Judkins? Yes, I am seriously thinking ahead to the 2025 season. It's dynasty, people! Always need to be looking at the now and the then. Do the research if you aren't already. It will really help you get (and keep) a leg up in this league, and keep your team competitive for a long time. Look at my team (Dynastic Dan) last year. I drafted a lot of young guys and had a pretty bad team. But I used my high draft pick, made some nice moves, and turned things around in just one year, and I am now 5-0. I don't plan to return to the cellar anytime soon. And that's the way you have got to attack things. Always plan ahead. Always have a "build" for your team in mind. It's what separates the men from boys, and it is what is already beginning to happen in the league this season.

That probably came off as incredibly douchey, and I apologize. But I mean it. If you are reading this, you are here to play dynasty football and obviously have some kind of interest in it. Let's freaking go.

The Rad Dynasty: 2024 Season: Week Four Recap

It's been a season of parity so far in the Rad Dynasty. After week four, three of the worst teams last year (Fergalicious, TBone, and Dynastic Dan) have a combined record of 11-1. These teams combined for a grand total of fourteen wins last season. Meanwhile, BDB and Show me the TDs, who made the playoffs last year, are each 1-3. Bluth Company, one of the highest scoring teams in the league last year, is 0-4. What is going on???

Before we dive into the recaps, shout out to player of the week Derrick Henry for TBone's Terrific Team. Henry rushed for 199 yards and scored two touchdowns, totaling 34.4 fantasy points for Timmy's surprise 3-1 team. This huge performance lifted TBone to a big win. Let's jump right into the action.

TBone's Terrific Team (3-1) 123.45 vs BDB's Jet Setters (1-3) 114.14

TBone, who only won four games last season, moves to 3-1 with a win over BDB. Aside from Derrick Henry, TBone was led by Amon-Ra St. Brown (19.78) and Brian Robinson (18.8). TBone looks to continue his remarkable turnaround next week against The Killing Fields, who had a dud of a game in week four. It is extremely possible Timmy matches his entire 2023 win total just five games into the 2024 season.

BDB has been in the bottom half of the league in scoring. While he had a great week three, he came crashing back down to earth in this game. He sits at 1-3, despite great contributions from Stefon Diggs (16) and Aaron Jones (17.15). BDB takes on TDs or Bust in week five, in what should be a crucial game for both teams.

Fergalicious (4-0) 178.09 vs Show me the TDs (1-3) 155.53

With all due respect to TBone, Fergalicious has been the surprise team of the year. They won four games last year, started 0-7, and came into this year having made minimal improvements to the roster. How have they gotten to 4-0?

A big answer to that is Nico Collins. He went nuclear in this game, scoring 27.1 points. Lamar Jackson (27.64), Jayden Reed (23.6), Jonathan Taylor (18.3), and Justice Hill (18) had huge games. They needed every one of these points, as Show me the TDs put up a great fight. Sucks to lose when you score 155 points.

Justin Fields (33.98), Mike Evans (19.8), Justin Jefferson (17.5), and the IDP carried Sean's team this week. It was a tough luck loss, and no one would have thought that with this much talent, they'd be 1-3 so far. Things don't get any easier next week with a matchup against defending champ ned, who is 3-1.

Alice in Horns (3-1) 137.18 vs Bluth Company (0-4) 136.25

This was easily the game of the week. Bluth came in 0-3 and by far the lowest scoring team in the league. They come out 0-4 and are still the lowest scoring team in the league, but that is beside the point. They put up a great fight, and nearly pulled off the shocking win.

To put together such a strong performance finally, only to lose by less than a point is definitely tough. Bluth heads into week five with the season's first rematch: a matchup against 4-0 Fergalicious.

Alice continues to impress this season, with her only loss to 4-0 Dynastic Dan. This was a nice win, spearheaded by her running back trio of David Montgomery (14.5), Alvin Kamara (21.4), and Kyren Williams (18.4). Alice heads into week five against 2-2 Teflon Don, (my brother Chris). These teams finished with identical 8-7 records in 2023, each one missing the playoffs by one game. Both teams are looking to get over the hump this year. This should be a crucial game.

Dynastic Dan (4-0) 104.55 vs The Killing Fields (1-3) 87.65

Yikes. This was the lowest scoring matchup of the day. I may be 4-0, but I don't feel very good about it. I would have been beaten by literally any other team except for The Killing Fields this week. It was a lucky matchup. Lord knows I've been the second highest scoring team only to lose to the highest scoring team maaaaaannnnnny times in fantasy football before... but I can't say that this has ever happened before. I'll take it.

It was a matchup to forget. Jamarr Chase (17.25) was the only player who really had an outstanding game on offense for Dynastic Dan. The Killing Fields was led by D'Andre Swift (26) and James Conner (17.8). They might have had a chance to win this one, but left injured Davante Adams in the lineup, as well as two injured IDPs. Mike Gesicki had -.4 points, to add insult to injury.

Next week, The Killing Fields looks to get back into the win column against TBone, in what is essentially a must-win game for this team. Dynastic Dan has a favorable matchup against My Team next week, and looks to get to 5-0 on the season.

Teflon Don (2-2) 122.14 vs TDs or Bust (2-2) 105.69

This was another ugly, low scoring game where each team fell well below projections. It's been an up and down fantasy season, that's for sure.

Teflon Don started the year 0-2, but has now won two in a row to even their record. Prescott (20.74), Nabers (17.1), and Moss (15.8) were the big guns offensively for Teflon Don. Hopefully the Nabers concussion is not a sign of things to come. He is perhaps my favorite young player in the league right now.

TDs or Bust underperformed by 33 points and limped away from this one. It was a bold move to start Daniel Jones, but it did not really pan out as he only scored 9.54 points. Breece Hall (2.8) and Dawson Knox (0.5) had bad games. Aidan Hutchinson had a goose egg. TDs or Bust hopes this game is just a fluke as this is a team with title aspirations. They look to rebound against 1-3 BDB next week.

Ned's rollers (3-1) 159.13 vs My Team (0-4) 107.58

This one was never really in question, as ned steamrolled his way to victory. His team was fueled by Kenneth Walker (32.85), Jordan Mason (23), and CeeDee Lamb's (20.1) big games. The defending champ has looked great this year, and has his eyes on back to back titles to start this dynasty league. Start the dynasty with a dynasty.

My Team had a poor game, but it would not have been so bad without Rashee Rice's injury. He was having a big year, but is likely done for the season after scoring 3.75 in this one. The rest of the team, aside from Jared Goff and Tony Pollard, did not do much. But it would be nice to see My Team fix their IDP mess. This team has a strong enough core that they could be a "tough out" each and every single week. Instead, it looks like this team may not even win a game (although I have to point out they would have beaten me this week if we had matched up).

BOOM

That's the end of this week's recap. We'll have a last look at the standings after week four. Two teams sit undefeated at 4-0: Fergalicious and Dynastic Dan. They don't play till week 10 this season. That should be a huge matchup. I doubt they'll both be 9-0 coming into that game, but it is fun to think about.

The rest of the teams are sort of bunched up with 1, 2, or 3 wins. It's too early to predict who is out of it and who is a contender. Watch out for ned, yo. He's a giant threat to repeat this year. Teflon Don and Alice are great, too. And TDs or Bust. And it is hard to count out Show me the TDs, who has had some bad luck. They are the second highest scoring team in the league, but are allowing the most points in the league, by a wide margin. They are like last year's Bluth Company.

Until next week!
