In case you want to look back at previous years awards, here they are:
Rad Bowl MVP:
This was already touched upon in the final week recap, so I won't spend too much time here, but this award goes to Chase Brown for Dynastic Dan. Not only was he the title game MVP with 27.6 points, he had 30.9 in the playoff game before. Not only the MVP of the Rad Bowl, but the playoffs overall.
2024 winner: Lamar Jackson, Skattebo Doesn't Know
2023 winner: CeeDee Lamb, Ned's rollers
Worst Draft Pick:
This year's winner is Kaleb Johnson for Teflon Don. This one has to hurt, taking Johnson at the 1.06. He was a complete bust his rookie year, and contributed literally nothing to fantasy football. You can't even blame Teflon Don for taking him, as I was high on Johnson coming into the draft. I personally would have taken Treveyon Henderson at the 1.06, but it was a gamble that didn't pay off for my good brother Chris. Maybe Kaleb will get it together, but it is going to be tough being stuck behind Jaylen Warren and Kenneth Gainwell (who had a surprisingly good year).
2024 winner: Pat Freiermuth at 1.01, TBone's Terrific Team
2023 winner: not an award yet
This award goes to Jaylen Warren for Show me the TDs. It was a toss up between Warren and Rico Dowdle for Ned's team. But I went with Warren, even though Dowdle outscored him by 3 points. Warren was a mainstay in Sean's lineup, and consistently produced week in and week out. Dowdle was a great pickup as well, but he was left on the bench from time to time. One of his big spike weeks was even missed by ned. So I am going with the more consistent player.
Warren was one of the first, if not the first waiver pickups in the league. He was originally on my roster, but I had "too many running backs" and dropped him after the draft, while keeping losers like Trey Benson on my team. Probably my worst mistake this year, even though I did end up winning the title.
2024 winner: Bo Nix, TDs or Bust
2023 winner: Kyren Williams, Alice in Horns
Defensive Player of the Year:
This award goes to Jordyn Brooks for AR12 is Weird. Brooks was a "set it and forget it" IDP option for AR12 is Weird. He was the #1 IDP in football, and a massive reason AR12 had such a remarkable turnaround season. In fact, this team in general, even under its old manager, has always produced good IDP play. This is now its second DPoY award.
He outscored Jack Campbell for TDs or Bust by 3 points. Campbell also would have been a worthy winner, but I have to go with the guy who scored more points and played for a team that finished second in the standings. If I don't go by points, what else should I go by?
2024 winner: Zaire Franklin, TDs or Bust
2023 winner: Foyesade Oluokun, The Killing Fields (AR12 is Weird).
Offensive Player of the Year:
In other words, the non quarterback award. It easily goes to Christian McCaffrey for ned's rollers. He was the #1 skill player in football, by a 30 point margin ahead of second place Jonathan Taylor. Unlike Taylor, CMC was remarkably consistent this season. He only had a couple underperforming games all year (and I think they were all against me).
In addition, the midseason CMC trade was perhaps the biggest in-season move in Rad Dynasty history. Ned essentially went all in on a player who he thought could win him a title. It didn't work that way, but you can't fault him for the gamble. As the #1 highest scoring non QB in fantasy, CMC was a slam dunk for this award - which he wins for the second time in three years.
2024 winner: Ja'Marr Chase, Dynastic Dan
2023: Christian McCaffrey, Bluth Company
Rookie of the Year:
This award feels a little underwhelming, as Jeanty didn't truly have the breakout season everyone expected for Bluth Company. But still, he finished as the top rookie skill player, scoring 40 more points than second place Tet McMillan. Jaxson Dart could possibly have won this award, but he only started one game for Dynastic Dan. Tyler Warren and Emeka Egbuka started hot and could have won this had they not dropped off the face of the earth. Henderson flashed off and on, but rarely started for Dynastic Dan. Hunter, Hampton, and Skattebo all missed a massive amount of time with injuries. Overall, it was a disappointing year for rookies all around. A dark horse that could have won this was Harold Fannin, as he had a pretty good rookie year for the Browns. And TE is an important position in this league. But he wasn't anywhere near Jeanty as far as total points scored. RJ Harvey started to explode at the end of the year, as well.
2024 winner: Brock Bowers, My Team
2023 winner: Puka Nacua, Alice in Horns
Kicker of the Year:
Everyone's favorite award of the year goes to Jason Myers for BDB. He was the #1 kicker in football, which surprised me because I thought it would have been Brandon Aubrey. But nope. Myers was ahead of him by 16 points. The next closest kicker was actually Kai'mi Fairbairn for Dynastic Dan, but he bounced around too much this season, going from Skattebo Doesn't Know to Dynastic Dan to the waiver wire, was out a game or two, and then went back to Dynastic Dan. Otherwise I would have loved to crown him the winner. He's always a kicker I target in fantasy leagues.
2024 winner: Brandon Aubrey, Show me the TDs
2023 winner: not an award yet
Rad Dynasty MVP:
This was a difficult choice, because Josh Allen wasn't the #1 player in fantasy. That accomplishment goes to Matthew Stafford for TDs or Bust. Why didn't Stafford get the award, then? Because he was an on again, off again player for TDs or Bust. Sometimes he started. Sometimes Drake Maye started. Even Daniel Jones got some action early in the season. But Josh Allen? He was an automatic lock for Dynastic Dan's lineup.
Allen was a steady force for this year's champ. He didn't seem quite as impressive as year's past, as it seems like he had a few more dud weeks than normal, offset by some massive explosion games. But even "not as impressive as last year" Josh Allen is still good enough to be the MVP of this league. #2 quarterback in fantasy, #2 player in fantasy, and QB of the team that won the title. Looks like a pretty clear case to me.
2024 winner: Lamar Jackson, Skattebo Doesn't Know
2023 winner: Jalen Hurts, Ned's rollers
Manager of the Year:
This clearly has to go for Scotty, right? He became the first person to take over a team in league history, replacing The Killing Fields, who went 4-11 last year. In fact, John from The Killing Fields actually won the award for worst manager last year, which makes this accomplishment even more impressive. From worst managed team and 4-11 to the #2 seed in the league. Doesn't get any better than that.
2023 winner: ned's rollers
Worst Manager of the Year:
Yup, this award goes to my Uncle Peter. I don't know what went wrong here, but this team had a decent draft and was projected by Yahoo to go 10-5 this year. Instead, they went 2-13 and had the worst team in the league. Injured players were left in the lineup, bye weeks weren't accounted for, a minimal amount of moves were made. I messaged my uncle a few times about this and he would say that yahoo keeps logging him out. I'm not sure if anyone else has had a problem repeatedly getting logged out of Yahoo, but if this is happening, this is something that needs to be brought to Yahoo directly. I can't really do anything about it. Or log in and stay logged in on other devices, or something. Hopefully next year is a new story. Peter has the 1.01 in the draft and honestly he has a pretty good team that could make a postseason run next year, especially with the playoffs being expanded to 2 extra teams.
2024 winner: The Killing Fields (John) - now AR12 is Weird
2023 winner: Tbone's Terrific Team (Tim)
