The Rad Dynasty: 2024 Season: Week Thirteen Recap

Here we go - week 13 is over and done, and we have just 2 more weeks left in the regular season. Today's player of the week would have been Jameis Winston (38.98) or Jerry Jeudy (36) but they were both left on the bench by their respective managers. Instead, player of the week goes to Jayden Daniels and his 33.64 fantasy points. His four total touchdowns unfortunately were not enough to lift Teflon Don for the win, as his opponent show me the TDs scored a new Rad Dynasty record with 211 points.

Overall, this was a massive week. Due to a pretty big upset combined with a series of other events, the playoff field looks like it is pretty much set in stone, even with two weeks in the season still remaining. This week I am going to do things a little differently and post the standings first. As you can see, the top 3 teams have already clinched. Then I will recap each game simply based on the playoff implications of the game.

Dynastic Dan (10-3) 191.25 vs TBone's Terrific Team (4-9) 127.15

Poor TBone never had a chance as my team erupted for 190+ points for the third time this season. I had zero games like this last year. It's part of the reason I'm still in first with a 10-3 record, although I am tied with three other teams. It looks like we are all going to make the playoffs (along with TDs or Bust) but the question now will be where each team will be seeded. This scoring outburst was big for me because it continues to add to my total as highest scoring team in the league. I also hold the head-to-head tiebreaker against both Fergalicious and Alice this season. So my road to #1 looks pretty good, although I do have a tough matchup with ned coming up.

The Killing Fields (4-9) 108.99 vs ned's rollers (7-6) 97.02

This was a devastating loss for ned as he has now lost 4 in row. This puts him a solid two games behind TDs or Bust for the final playoff spot - with only 2 games left. He does hold the head to head tiebreaker, though. Ned needs to win out, hope show me the TDs loses a game, and hope TDs or Bust loses all their remaining games. And TDs has a pretty easy schedule the rest of the way, while ned has to play 1st place Dynastic Dan next week. It looks like it could be the end of the road for ned this year, and in shocking fashion. They were 7-2 and looking real good just 4 weeks ago. And some of these losses have been rough, as they have been to two bottom feeders in BDB and TKF. Both games that you'd think ned would win.

Alice in Horns (10-3) 158.21 vs My Team (5-8) 136.09

This game was a lot closer than it looked, as My Team was favored most of Sunday to win this game and lift my uncle Peter to an upset win. But the afternoon games had some big performances from Alice's Rams players and Bucky Irving to lift her to the big win. She needed this win, as it keeps her tied with Dan and Fergalicious for first in the league at 10-3. Alice will need a little help to finish higher than third in the standings, but she does have an easier schedule the rest of the way than both Mike and Dan. Regardless, this game locks her into the playoffs for the first time in the history of the league! Fun fact - this year will be the first time Dan, Fergalicious, and Alice have made the playoffs. BDB, ned, and show me the TDs will be the first teams to make the playoffs and then miss them the following year. I suppose technically things are not over yet, though.

Show me the TDs (7-6) 211.00 vs Teflon Don (6-7) 161.99

My Rad Dynasty record for most points scored in a game only lasted 3 weeks. Womp womp. We have a new king: Show me the TDs, who breaks the record by 8 points. This tough luck loss ends Teflon Don's season, as they can't make the playoffs now. Sucks to lose when you break out for such a high scoring game, but the fantasy gods can be cruel sometimes. Show me the TDs technically still can make the playoffs, but they would need a miracle. Even though they are 2 behind in the standings, they are almost 3 games out since they lose the head to head tiebreaker against TDs or Bust. So in order to make the playoffs they need a 3 way tie to happen. They need to win out, have ned win out, AND have TDs or Bust lose the rest of their games to do that. And they have to hope they hold the points tiebreaker at the end of the year. So a lot needs to happen. But guess what? TDs or Bust plays TBone next week. Uh oh. If they miss the playoffs, Show me the TDs will join last season's Bluth Company in suffering as two teams that were very high scoring, but still missed the playoffs because of bad luck.

TDs or Bust 153.72 (9-4) vs Bluth Company (2-11) 150.63

TDs or Bust narrowly missed majorly getting upset, as Christian McCaffrey's season ending injury derailed Bluth's chances. Poor Bluth has just had the worst season luck wise this year. It's one devastating blow after another. I really think they regroup next year, especially with the high draft pick and better injury luck. TDs or Bust is as close to clinching as you can get. It would take a catastrophic collapse to miss the playoffs at this point. Win just one game against TBone or Teflon Don, both teams with losing records, and you are in.

Fergalicious (10-3) 177.83 vs BDB's Jet Setters (4-9) 146.53

It was a valiant effort from BDB, but Fergalicious was hot this week, scoring 177 points. This win keeps Fergalicious in first, tied with Dynastic Dan and Alice. Right now, Mike would hold the #2 seed based on points, but could rise to #1 with a Dan loss or potentially fall to #4 with a loss of his own. That should be the most interesting part of the rest of the season: the playoff jockeying and seeing who will play who in the first round.

***

What to watch for next week? All eyes will be on Perry as his team looks to win and clinch a playoff spot. If TDs or Bust loses, this opens the door back up for show me the TDs. It would be just a crack, but it would be open.

We also need to watch Alice, Mike, and Dan as each look to win their 11th game. None of these teams can miss the playoffs, but any win or loss will effect the seeding.

The rest of the teams can start thinking about who they'll pick next season. Right now Bluth has the inside track to the #1 pick, but anything can happen if he wins out and the other teams above him lose out. The Killing Fields is in best shape for the #2 pick, with TBone right there, too.

Because it is never too early to think about dynasty, here is a look at the 2025 rookie class. It looks like a pretty good RB class.

Until next time!
