The Rad Dynasty: 2023 Season, Week Three Recap

Week three of The Rad Dynasty is now complete. As has become normal in this crazy NFL season, we had some very, very wild and unpredictable outcomes in the league this week. But first, a shout out to player of the week for week three: Raheem Mostert for TDs or Bust! Mostert scored 41.97 fantasy points for Perry's team, rushing for 82 yards and scoring 4 touchdowns. Way to go! There was only one player that outscored Mostert this week, and that was teammate De'Von Achane, with his 49.3 fantasy points scored. Guess who has him on their roster and didn't start him? I'll give you three guesses.

1 Me
2 This guy, right here
3 Dynastic Dan

And guess who also lost this week? *sigh*

Let's dive into the recaps, starting as always with a recap of your beloved commissioner's matchup.

How about some music to read these recaps to?

Show me the TDs (2-1) 166.26 vs Dynastic Dan (1-2) 148.9

Let's flash back to last week, when Show me the TDs had a low scoring loss in week 2.

"Sean's team underperformed, but Deebo Samuel and Justin Jefferson had big games. He has a nice core of players, too. The running backs all had down weeks, though. And so did Tua, who had such a huge week one. This is a team that I think can bounce back nicely. Which they probably will because they play my sad, pathetic team in week three!"

Bounce back they did, over-performing their expected total by over 22 points. Tua had a mammoth game against the terrible Denver defense. Deebo and Jefferson continued to carry the team with big games. Michael Pittman, the kicker, and some IDP players all scored in double figures for Sean's team. Honestly, this outburst isn't too shocking. This is a really good team, and two of its best players (Najee Harris and Josh Jacobs) haven't done anything yet. Once they get it going (if they do), this can be a playoff contending team.

I wish I could say the same about my team. I over-performed for the first time this season, but it was not enough to get the dub. Justin Herbert continues to have a nice season, and Jamarr Chase finally had a big game. But man oh man, did I get nothing from the rest of the team, aside from Courtland Sutton (who I just picked up off waivers) with 15 points. Until someone on my team aside from Herbert or Chase starts scoring points, this is going to be a long season for me. At least bad seasons aren't a total loss in dynasty, as I could have a shot at drafting Marvin Harrison Jr or one of the big prospects in next year's draft if I continue on this path. One of the lone bright spots for my team was actually from a player I didn't even start - the aforementioned De'Von Achane. I'll definitely be starting him from here on out. Hopefully he doesn't go back to scoring 2 or 3 points a game. That's one of the fun things about dynasty, seeing a rookie or young player you picked up late in the draft start to blossom and spread their wings. Hopefully this is just the beginning for him!

TDs or Bust (3-0) 195.96 vs My Team (2-1) 130.32

In a battle of coworker vs uncle, coworker was able to claim the victory. TDs or Bust now stands as the only undefeated team through 3 weeks, which is impressive. Not only is he the second highest scoring team in the league, Perry also set the league record for points scored in a game, so kudos to him for that.

Perry's team was carried by player of the week Raheem Mostert and his giant game. Surprisingly his offense didn't do a whole lot. But it was the IDPs who paved the way for the record setting game. They all scored in double figures, with two of them topping 20 points. Sam LaPorta is looking like a giant steal for this team, as he has started out hot as one of the best tight ends in football. Important because he's a rookie and this is a dynasty league. Also important because of the two tight end spots. Being able to plug in someone like him is going to be giant for this team as the years go on.

My Team suffered their first defeat of the season in the post Nick Chubb era. I'm a little surprised he was cut, given the keeper nature of this league. My brother Chris (who got his first win today) outbid me for him. Drat! Anyway, My Team had a down week. He came into this game as a 1 point favorite and lost by 65 points. Ouch! His kicker had 24 points but the rest of the team was quiet. They look to get back in the win column next week, facing off against T-Bone's Terrific Team, one of the lower scoring teams in the league so far this year. Speaking of T-Bone's team...

BDB's Jet Setters (1-2) 130.02 vs T-Bone's Terrific Team (1-2) 119.58

Not a banner offensive performance from either team, but BDB was able get their first win. Kirk Cousins and Tyreek Hill had big performances for T-Bone's team, while Clyde Edwards-Helaire had a surprise touchdown. Unfortunately it was not enough as Keenan Allen's giant game carried BDB to the win. Five other players scored in double figures for BDB's team in the win.

Turd Ferguson (1-2) 149.86 vs ned's rollers (2-1) 140.48

My brother Chris got his first win, and ned got his first loss in a battle of unde-somethings.

AJ Brown finally had a big game for Turd Ferguson, and his running backs finally showed up too. Told you they'd be ok! Solid contributions all down the board ensured Chris his highest scoring game of the season.

Hurts, Pacheco, and Kenneth Walker carried ned's team in the loss. I'm still high on this team, though - despite the loss. I wouldn't be shocked at all to see them in the playoffs. This is just a blip on the radar in what is going to be a long season.

The Killing Fields (2-1) 181.03 vs Thunder Thighs (0-3) 117.58

The Killing Fields continues to impress with another high scoring win. His team defense consistently puts up big points. Patrick Mahomes, Davante Adams, and his running backs all had big games in the win. Right now, The Killing Fields is the highest scoring team in the league, averaging 167.59 points a game. This is the best team I've ever seen CRA put together. Good job!

Thunder Thighs had a low scoring game all around. Lamar Jackson, Amari Cooper, and the kicker were the only players to show up. Everyone else scored in single digits. On paper, this is a good team. Austin Ekeler will hopefully come back soon, as well as Jonathan Taylor. Those players would be a massive boost to this team.

Last matchup:

Alice in Horns (2-1) 155.51 vs Bluth Company (1-2) 122.12

Just as we're ready to anoint the Bluth Company as the best team ever, they come crashing back down in week 3. It's been a pretty up and down team so far. Josh Allen and Christian McCaffrey led the way in the loss. Mike Williams had a big game, but then was lost to a season ending injury. Ouch!

Jordan Love had a big game for Alice. Travis Kelce and DK Metcalf had big games, while the IDP and kicker put on a show as well. Gotta love it when your defense and special teams come through like that. It was much needed because Josh Reynolds had a goose egg at WR. Alice's team plays me, Dynastic Dan, next week. I always look forward to our head to head matches when we play each other. Alvin Kamara comes back from suspension, and Alice's Rams players are locked and ready to go.

As always, here are the standings below. TDs or Bust sits at the top with a 3-0 record. Everything very evenly balanced so far. Next week will be a pivotal one to separate the contenders from the pretenders.
