You won't hear any whining or complaining from yours truly this week, as my team finally broke through for their second win of the season. Woo hoo. I must be one of those people that hates losing more than he likes winning, though, because my win didn't generate nearly as much emotion as my losses normally do. I wanted to be more excited writing this up, but I am struggling to find that energy. I'm struggling so much I'm even going to mix things up and focus on my matchup last! It's not like a battle of cellar dwellers is very important anyway, considering the previous top 3 teams in the league all lost this week. It was a week of parity, beginning with the #1 team going down...
Turd Ferguson (3-3) 152.28 vs The Killing Fields (4-2) 139.99
This was the biggest win of the season for my brother as he was able to upend the #1 team in the standings and even his record at 3-3. After a slow start he is very much in the hunt this season, pulling within one game of a first place tie. The top five teams this season are all tied at 4-2.
Dak Prescott, AJ Brown, and Cooper Kupp did the heavy lifting for Turd Ferguson. It was a quiet game for The Killing Fields. His IDP once again had big games, but the offense was silent. Patrick Mahomes, D'Andre Swift, and Curtis Samuel were the only offensive players that showed up. Both kickers had big games against one another.
Things don't get any easier for The Killing Fields as they play fellow first place team Ned's Rollers next week. Turd Ferguson faces off against another first place tied team, Show me the TDs, who struggled this week.
TBone's Terrific Team (3-3) 154.44 vs Show me the TDs (4-2) 103.98
It was a brutal week for Show me the TDs, as they put together the second lowest scoring game of the week. Tua, DJ Moore, and Michael Pittman had nice games, but the rest of the team laid an egg. His IDP and kicker in total scored 21 points. Ouch. Hard to win with that production from the bottom of the lineup.
TBone's team continues to impress and prove they are a team that you absolutely cannot count out. Despite a goose egg from Marquez Valdez-Scantling, the team put together the second highest scoring performance of the week. Tyreek Hill and Amon-Ra St Brown put together massive 25 point games. His kicker Justin Tucker had more points than anyone on the other team aside from Tua. Overall a great all-around performance from Timmy's team. They now stand just a game out of first place.
TDs or Bust (4-2) 141.44 vs Alice in Horns (4-2) 136.20
Our third 4-1 team in a row loses, as Alice was edged out by Perry's team by a mere 5 points.
TDs or Bust had a solid overall performance by his team, but was led by player of the week Raheem Mostert and his 33 points. The future looks bright for TDs or Bust, as three of his younger players (Bijan, Zay Flowers, and Garrett Wilson) all had good games. In total, seven players scored in double figures in the victory.
For Alice's team, Puka Nakua finally had a stinker with 4.6 points. David Montgomery left his matchup against the Buccaneers with a measly 3.8 points, otherwise this could have been a completely different outcome. Six players in total scored in double figures for team Alice, led by Kyren Williams and his 22 points. He left the game with an injury, though, which must be concerning for team Alice. Two running backs going down in one week is never a good thing. With all the injuries and a bye week coming up, Alice will have her hands full with Tbone's team next week.
Bluth Company (3-3) 177.96 vs BDBs Jet Setters (2-4) 98.82
This was the blowout of the week as Bluth Company won by 79 points. It was a cursed day for BDB, with Justin Fields going down with an injury with a measly 4.92 fantasy points. Stefon Diggs and Travis Etienne had big games for BDB, but it just wasn't enough. Someone wake up BDB, because he left Keenan Allen and Saquon Barkley on the bench, and they both had nice games. Not that it would have been enough when your opponent scores 177 points.
Bluth's team had yet another massive outburst, with the highest scoring game in the league this week. He has had the single highest scoring performance in the league three times already this year, with only 6 games in the books. It is no wonder he is the league's top scoring team, averaging 162.16 points a week. It's a surprise he is only 3-3. Good things are on the horizon, however, as he plays 0-6 Thunder Thighs next week. In this matchup, 9 of his 13 starters scored in double figures for the win. Just a really balanced effort all around. If I had to predict an eventual winner of this league right now, it would be Bluth Company.
Ned's Rollers (4-2) 128.20 vs My Team (3-3) 116.92
This battle of 3-2 teams had a chance to be an epic one. Unfortunately it turned into a low scoring snoozer.
Someone alert Uncle Peter that he needs to fix his roster, as he left 2 inured players in his starting lineup, but still managed to only lose by 12. If he'd plugged those spots, he'd probably be 4-2 and part of that massive 5 way tie for first place. Didn't happen though.
Ned's team didn't fare much better. Jalen Hurts, Ceedee Lamb, and Kenneth Walker had big games, but Daniel Bellinger had a goose egg, and his IDP and kicker didn't do much. Still, it was enough to move Ned into a tie for first place at 4-2.
Dynastic Dan (2-4) 150.78 vs Thunder Thighs 120.98 (0-6)
In a battle between two teams that came into the game a combined 1-9, Dynastic Dan pulled away for a 30 point win. Finally, someone didn't have an enormous scoring game against my team!
Due to bye weeks and injuries, Dynastic Dan was forced to start a pair of backups, Kendre Miller and Cam Akers, at running back. They scored even worse than projected, combining for 3.7 points. Luckily the rest of the team picked up the slack. Justin Herbert, Jaylen Waddle, and Jamarr Chase had big games. The two tight end tandem of Kyle Pitts and Jonnu Smith paid off as well, as they each had touchdowns. IDP Jordan Hicks came through with a big 25 point game, scoring a TD in the process against da Bears.
It was another quiet week for Thunder Thighs, as they have been one of the worst luck teams so far. They are the lowest scoring team in the league by a wide margin, and this week's performance did nothing to boost those numbers. Jonathan Taylor, Austin Ekeler, and Devonta Smith continued their year long vanishing act. Nico Collins and Lamar Jackson were the two offensive bright spots for the team.
Updated standings! I'm loving the parity in this league so far and I hope it keeps up all season long. 5 teams are tied for first place, and 4 teams are tied for second, leaving three stragglers at the bottom of the standings. And two of those stragglers are only 2 games out of first. The only team really out of it at this point is Thunder Thighs, but who knows - a winning streak might be right around the corner.
